Any tips on how can I play above C for the trumpet?
Q. I'm a student trumpet player (1 year, school experience) who is still attempting to perfect playing above C on the treble clef. When I do play above C, the notes sound really buzzy, and not very smooth. What are some tips to ensure that my high notes are clearer?

A. I am a professional musician and I have played clarinet and bari sax for 18+ years. This last December, I decided to try my hand at trumpet- and so far, so good! Play a good, strong "G", and hold it. When you get the tone and steadiness just where you want it, slur up to an "A". Follow this process up, and take it SLOW. Pay attention to what your throat and tongue are doing, as well as your embochure. Try and get as even a tone as possible on every note. When you reach the first note in your range that cracks and is buzzy, stop. Start again. This time, that note will be your ending goal. Try to hear each note in your head before you play it. And put some air through that horn! When you reach "the buzzy note", if it cracks or… [cont.]

Can someone who was previously infected with acute hepatitis C but has been cleared of it still infect others?
Q. "The other 15% of hepatitis C virus infected individuals simply have an acute infection; that is, one that resolves spontaneously in a few weeks or months". Is there still a possibility of someone who fits the above description, to infect their spouse with hepatitis C?

A. No Hep C is super, super hard to transmit. If your Hep C is cleared, that means you have NO active viral particles in your blood. That is good! Even if you have chronic positive, it is still hard to transmit, for example, my husband's mother has had it since before he was even born. He does not have it, and his dad does not have it. So, you see it does not transmit so easily. I would not be freaking out at this point at all.
