Q. My son will be 15 months when he has to be left for the first time. We have never left him before with anyone. He is going to be staying with my mum and dad, who we dont really trust but there is no one else. I have friends but they dont have kids and sort of panic when he starts to cry. Anyway, we are nervous about leaving him with my parents because 1) my mum drinks, a lot. I have never known her not to drink. I asked her to take me to afternoon/evening antenatal classes when i was pregnant with him as i didnt like driving and i didnt have my own car. And she said no and my dad ended up just dropping me off/picking me up. That's tough. As far as the worrying, it is probably unnecessary-- chances are your little son will be more than fine. Just think that they raised you & any siblings you might have...you guys came out alive-- thankfully. I am pretty skeptical & nervous about my in-laws being in charge of my daughter for any amount of time. But I came to the point when I realized that they were parents and successfully raised three babies. So as incapable as I think they are, it is probably not the case (they are drinkers as well.) And they probably just SEEM really nervous because I am constantly observing every nano-move they make and burning holes into the back of their heads.
