A government is the body within an organization that has the authority to make and enforce rules, laws and regulations.

Typically, the government refers to a civil government which can be either local, national, or international. However, commercial, academic, religious, or other formal organizations are also governed by internal bodies. Such bodies may be called boards of directors, managers, or governors or they may be known as the administration (as in schools) or councils of elders (as in churches). The size of governments can vary by region or purpose.

Growth of an organization advances the complexity of its government, therefore small towns or small-to-medium privately-operated enterprises will have few officials compared to larger organizations such as multinational corporations which will have multiple interlocking, hierarchical layers of administration and governance. As complexity increases and the nature of governance becomes more complicated,so does the need for formal policies and procedures.

Public sector governance is studied as Public Administration while that in the private sector is studied as Business Administration.

The concept of government has been around since humanity itself where hunter-gatherers would commonly establish tribes high authority and have unique ideals. However, government is not limited to the human species itself as many animals establish groups such as ants, lions, and bees. Although, a common trait of animals, specifically mammals and colony insects are a social caste that may work in a governmental way.

  • [Administration] covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, guided; men are seldom restrained from acting, such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to be nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which government is the shepherd.
  • A state, is called the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly lieth it also; and this lie creepeth from its mouth: “I, the state, am the people. It is a lie! Creators were they who created peoples, and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life.Destroyers, are they who lay snares for many, and call it the state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them.
  • Government, in the last analysis, is organized opinion. Where there is little or no public opinion, there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government.

Why is the government giving exemptions promoting people to take the swine flu vaccination?
Q. I also read that the CDC is giving $50.00 for people to attend seminars about the swine flu and $50.00 to take the shot. Something does not sound right. Why would the government pay us to take a vaccination?
Asked by teebop - Wed Sep 2 21:30:44 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The last time they came up with a vaccination for H1N1 it killed more people then the H1N1 virus did (27 from the vaccine I believe). The common flu kills something like 30,000 people annually... H1N1 kills a couple hundred a decade (guessing). Knowing that is enough to know that you should stay away from any government related H1N1 anything.

A. The Best thing to do is go yourself, Try and show why it has no problems. Make sure you take the best you have and share as you go. If You do make it to the White-house, Ask if you can have time on the House Floor to share your thoughts on Legalizing Marijuana.. Share your stash with whomever you meet.. LOL, Na man just messing with ya, You can write your State Rep. Its not going to happen in our lifetime.. And I still don;t see why its worse then Booze...??

What sources of revenue does a government have/ How important are taxes?
Q. What percentage of the government's money comes from Taxes? What other sources of revenue does the government have? Would it be possible to fund a government without taxes? I need this information for a debate I'm having at school, so any answers are welcome (but if you could provide sources I'd be very happy :P)

A. taxes are what funds the government, that is the cost of having it. without them, where else do they get the money? the only other choice would be to voluntarily ask the people to contribute, and that's not likely to happen. they could never get enough to even cover basic expenses like roads, police and firemen here is a link with arguments for volentary taxation tax- A compulsory contribution, usually of money, that is required for the support of a government: assessment, duty, impost, levy, tariff. See money, pay/owe, politics.
