Why in Guatemala is there two different coloured people?
Q. I am from Guatemala and i am what you would call the whiter side but i also have relatives you are darker What is the reason behind this?

A. Genotype are the genetic characteristics and phenotype are the visible traites. Because of the crossings between spaniards and indigenous people you have the "mestizo". Well to be honest many people call them "races" but that term is long discarted from science. Your phenotype may be white eventhough you parents have darker skin (my case). I'm from El Salvador and we have the same situation here. People in the norther part of the country are usually white and green eyed, this is because "white" genes are more predominant than the indigenous. But we have all white and glond o really dark brown in the same area but all of this is given by the "gene lotto".

A. Hello, I would suggest you to go to La Antigua Guatemala, it's a great colonial place you can visit. La Antigua is like 20 minutes from Guatemala city and it's also a great touristic place, everybody goes, there including former president Bill Clinton, Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson, besides it's pretty cheap to go there you don't have to pay a lot of money... but if you have a extra bucks you should go to Tikal in Peten, it's located 5 hours away from from the City, or better yet you can go on airplane, on a company called TAG or aviateca, local airline companies... or you can go to Lake of Atitlan, in Panajachel a beautiful lake located in Solola (2 1/2 hour drive) But if you only want to be in the city you can visit the Oakland Mall, or… [cont.]
