Regulation is "controlling human or societal behavior by rules or restrictions." Regulation can take many forms: legal restrictions promulgated by a government authority, self-regulation by an industry such as through a trade association, social regulation (e.g. norms), co-regulation and market regulation. One can consider regulation as actions of conduct imposing sanctions (such as a fine). This action of administrative law, or implementing regulatory law, may be contrasted with statutory or case law. Regulation mandated by a state attempts to produce outcomes which might not otherwise occur, produce or prevent outcomes in different places to what might otherwise occur, or produce or prevent outcomes in different timescales than would otherwise occur. In this way, regulations can be seen as implementation artifacts of policy statements. Common examples of regulation include controls on market entries, prices, wages, Development approvals, pollution effects, employment for certain people in certain industries, standards of production for certain goods, the military forces and services. The economics of imposing or removing regulations relating to markets is analysed in regulatory economics. From Wikipedia under the

When this happens what usually is the outcome? Q. What does it mean to be delinquent on regulatory filings? When this happens what usually is the outcome? I have stock in FCMC and they are delinquent, just getting into stocks, don't really know exactly what that means. Thanks a lot guys. Asked by jssmith44 - Thu Jan 3 15:22:20 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I am answering this from the UK, but I can say this. It's not good. I was once offered a lot of money to sort out this problem with an asset management company, who had not filed their regulatory returns, and the SEC was going to stop them trading in less than a month. I walked away, big kudos if I had succeeded huge downside if I failed. The SEC give plenty of notice and the penalties were obvious to all involved. At Citigroup, the Japanese equivalent closed their private banking operations as they were unhappy. To be delinquent is bad and they should know they are in trouble. If they comply, then the problem should go away, but, yes, the big question is why they are delinquent, this is very high priority stuff, and although I do not know… [cont.] Answered by CC - Thu Jan 3 15:37:05 2008 How does the federal regulatory process work? Q. What prompts a regulation? Where does it start and what agencies need to approve it, write it, edit it? How does a regulation become a final rule? Asked by GovtGirl - Wed Jun 21 09:33:05 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It starts with Congress, though the general process works the same for state legislatures creating state agencies. The legislature passes what is called an "enabling law" which creates an agency and grants the agency certain powers. These must be within the type of laws that Congress itself could pass. [See Article I of the Constitution.] Essentially, Congress is delegating some of its rule-making power to the agency, usually with specific guidelines and a specific purpose. The agency then goes through whatever their established procedure is, as determined by the enabling statute. Because they have been delegated quasi-legislative powers, the agency regulations have the same effect as if the laws had been passed directly by Congress. … [cont.] Answered by coragryph - Wed Jun 21 10:08:03 2006 What is the cost of a ticket for failing to obey a regulatory sign?
Q. Im under 18 and would i have to go to court? I live in southern california. Asked by Jen - Sun Aug 16 00:53:26 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you are under 18 then, in CA, you must go to traffic court - accompanied by a parent - for all tickets. The fine for failing to obey a stop sign is higher than that for failing to obey, say, a "keep right except to pass" sign. All fines are also to a certain extent discretionary, so it will vary.
